Rev. Dr. Janet Adair Hansen has been Pastor since December, 2000 (Christ Presbyterian Church 2000-2009, Christ Community Church 2010 – present). She is passionate about spirituality and social justice.

Ordained a minister in the United Presbyterian Church USA in 1982, she changed to United Church of Christ on Easter Sunday 2013, where her standing is “authorized minister” of the Susquehanna Association.  She is also a temporary member of the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley and member of the Iroquois Association of the American Baptists.

She earned a BA with honors in Religious Studies from the University of California Davis (including one year spent studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel).  Her M.Div. was earned at Duke Divinity School, and D. Min. in Spirituality from San Francisco Theological Seminary (one of the consortium of Graduate Theological Union in the SF Bay Area).

She served 10 years on the CAPCO (Community Action) Board and previously served 6 years on the Interfaith Board and 3 years on the MICAH Board (faith-based community organizing).

She is presently Co-Moderator for the Presbytery’s “Committee on Ministry.” She served as Moderator of the Public Policy Advocacy Network for the Presbyterian Synod of the Northeast 2007-2014. She served on the national board for “Presbyterians for Restoring Creation” 1997-2003 (representing the Southwest and then newsletter editor and webpage editor). She also served as Presbytery Stated Clerk 2009-2012 for Susquehanna Valley Presbytery.

Thomas began playing for Christ Presbyterian Church in the summer of 2000. A founding member of the SUNY-Cortland Gospel Choir, she has released two CD’s – “Glory, Honor and Praise” and “Christmas Blessings: Glad Tidings of Great Joy” and plans a 3rd.  In February 2014 she participated in a presbytery mission trip to Western Wollega Bethel Synod in Dembi Dollo, Ethiopia.



Gorelaya served as Choir Director and Pianist for the former United Community Church and beginning in 2008, as Choir Director for the new union church, Christ Community Church. A graduate of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the Ukraine, she is pianist for musical theater classes at Syracuse University and for classes at SUNY Cortland.  She also is a member of the classical trio Trillium – as pianist, along with violinist Lois Pfister  and flutist Maria Mucaria.
